We’ve had an exciting start to the new school year! Hope everyone is adjusting well to their new classroom and teacher. In Reading, we are working on a Cinderella unit for the first nine weeks. Each week, we have read a different version of Cinderella from around the world. Also, we focus on a weekly comprehension skill and discuss the elements of each fairy tale. In mid-October, we will do our first novel study – “Ghosts Don’t Eat Potato Chips” by Debbie Dadey. If you have not purchased this book as of yet, please get a copy for your child to use in class. It can be purchased on Amazon or at Barnes & Noble. A copy may be available to check out from your local public library as well.
In Math, we have explored Measurement and strategies to add and subtract numbers. The next skill we are working on is Place Value. We continue to alternate between Science and Social Studies, focusing on many interesting topics that the students really enjoy! Our field trip to the Mardi Gras museum was great fun for everyone. We are now planning the next adventure outside of school and will keep you informed with the details as soon as possible. Fall time is here – enjoy the Autumn season until next time …..
