Welcome to 3rd grade! We had a great start to our school year. The students are adjusting well to switching classes, learning our expectations, procedures, and rules, as well as making new friends and learning their way around the school.
We started off the year in Math with reviewing place value, rounding, addition, and subtraction. We are moving into multiplication now. The kids are so excited to start learning their multiplication facts and some strategies to teach them multiplying. In Science, we learned about the scientific method, force, and motion. We are now switching over to Social Studies to learn more about types of maps, the compass rose, hemispheres, and reading maps. In ELA, the students are focusing on the value of story telling. Students will be reading fiction and non-fiction stories, and they will be applying their writing skills throughout each lesson.
We would like to thank everyone who came out to our Open House on Tuesday. It was great meeting all of you, and we are looking forward to a wonderful year! Please make sure you check out the September calendar to see some important upcoming dates (Labor Day, Interim Reports are being sent home, and Early Dismissal to name a few).
