Our Kinders have been working hard to get ready for 1st grade!
In our Core Knowledge Language Arts curriculum, we are learning our letters sounds and already learning how to segment and blend CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words!
In writing, we’re learning all about how to write a narrative. We are using our sound cards to help us spell and pictures to show what we’re writing about.
In Reader’s Workshop, we’re learning about characters. We identifying who are main characters are, learning how to describe them, and compare them to other characters we’ve read about. We’re also learning to retell what happens in a story by using these cues; somebody (character), wanted (What did the character want?), but (What stopped them/problem?), so (What did the character do to try to solve the problem?), then (the conclusion).
In our Eureka Math curriculum, we are learning different ways to compose (build or make) numbers 1-10 and how to write those numbers.
We are looking forward to our field trip to the Children’s Museum! Mrs. Rojas and Mrs. Bozzelle’s class will attend the field trip on Monday October 9th. Mrs. Hydes and Mrs. Munson’s class will attend the field trip on Tuesday, October 10th.
On October 19th, we are going to have a visit from the Audubon ZooMobile! We’re very excited about this hands-on presentation that will go along with our next reading unit which is about animals and the African Savanna.
On October 31st, we will have Fall Fest. Families are invited and encouraged to attend! We hope to see you there!
