The Special Education Department would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays. It’s hard to believe half the school year has passed already.
All of our students are learning how to annotate fiction and non-fiction texts. We are busy practicing how to tackle texts, one paragraph at a time, circling the key words and writing the gist of the paragraph in our own words. We are committed to developing our reading fluency, and we are getting lots of practice reading texts at our various reading levels.
Our department is also committed to improving our students’ writing skills. We are constantly collaborating and brain storming for strategies to support our students in their writing endeavors.
Our lower grades are practicing basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, time and counting money. Our higher grades are working on multiplication, division, applying patterns, and measurement word problems. We had a lot of fun learning how to convert standard and metric measurements.
We are all looking forward to the fun activities planned for the last days of the school year, and we hope everyone stays safe and warm over the winter break!
