The special education department is growing and we could not be more excited. We welcomed Mrs. Dunn, Mrs. Dixon, Mrs. Rollins, and Mrs. Williams to our team. We are off to a great start, and the special education teachers are working productively to provide our students with rigorous and effective lessons.
Furthermore, the lower grades have an exciting field trip coming up this week. They will be going on a swamp tour! Our lower grades will also be diving into the exciting world of ancient Greek civilizations as well as the structure and properties of matter. In our upper grades fourth grade is moving right along. Learning how to round, add and subtract multi digit numbers, and using tape diagrams has been challenging but fun. Also, the students are having a blast learning all about Hurricanes! Meanwhile, our fifth graders are multiplying and dividing with decimals! How exciting! The Birchbark House Novel is keeping them busy and engaged.
It is heartwarming to see all of our teachers sharing morning meetings with their students. This is their time to share wish you wells, bond with their classmates and teachers, and prepare to take on their day. We would like to give a special thanks to the parents that came to spend the day in our classrooms. It was a great insight to the day to day routines and hard work by our teachers and students. Additionally, we would like to remind parents to sign up for Class Dojo. It is a great communication tool for teachers and parents. In fact, the kids really enjoy the different tools used in the classroom, and it does a really good job promoting positive reinforcement.
Summer is gone, Fall is here! We can’t wait to see where this adventure leads us this year!
